Pu Muen's Tea is named for Grandfather Muen, who lived in the high mountains (doi) in Thailand. Grandpa Muen was the leader of the Lahu, one of the hill tribes of Thailand. He pioneered tea cultivation in his community and encouraged other villagers to join him in moving away from traditional opium farming, which was wreaking havoc on surrounding forests. His work saw tremendous impact on the local community. Today, Doi Pu Muen is an enchanting place and known as the foremost Assamica tea-producing community in Thailand.
